Hanuman Was born for the Benaras. His mom Anjana was an apsara who was born on earth on account of a curse. She was redeemed from this curse on supplying birth to the son. The Valmiki Ramayana states that his father Kesari was the son of Rahu and was he was the King of the place named Sumeru.
